One of the Smallest Union Territories that India has, Lakshadweep is a cluster of islands and a fascinating tourist spot for many coast lovers from around the world. It is an archipelago of 36 islands and each one of them has something unique to offer. When it comes to places to visit in Lakshadweep, one will end up with a long list. The islands have a lot to offer – from clean beaches and well-managed resorts to abundant greenery and Peaceful Vibes.


1. Minicoy Island:

Surrounded by a beautiful village called Avah, the island of Minicoy is located in the southernmost parts of the Lakshadweep. Minicoy is said to be an ancient capital of the union territory and was named as Malikau by Arabian Trader. But tourists don’t visit this island destination for mere history nor it being the second largest island in Lakshadweep, but for the beauty, it possesses which is its pristine lagoon. Here, the resorts are at its best so are the tourist places, a must check out is the old lighthouse built in the year 1885 by Britishers.

2. Kadmat Island:

The Kadmat is considered to be the top travel destination in Lakshadweep where you can find huge lagoons and rich coral life making it a perfect place for snorkeling activity. In this island, apart from snorkeling, you will be accompanied by other adventure activities that will captivate you all day like scuba diving, water skiing, parasailing and many more. However, reefs being the main crowd puller here, sailing is widely done by visitors while holidaying in the Lakshadweep Islands of Kadmat.

3.Kavaratti Island:

Surrounded by cool refreshing air, the island of Kavaratti is another must visit place in Lakshadweep that offers sun, sand, and luxury. Here, you can escape into a world of complete bliss where the blue lagoons and white sandy beaches elevate your soul. Kavaratti Island also happens to be the capital of Lakshadweep and there are a few tourist attractions. Although architectural heritage is less to be found, you can explore the Jamath Mosque and Urja Mosque, besides some of the other must-see places here are the Marine Aquarium and Desalination Plant.

4.Marine Museum:

 Marine museum showcases plethora of marine related artifacts and aims at promoting marine products and its preservation. The interesting thing about the museum is its aquarium which has few of the most striking species of sea fishes and water animals. The beautiful, colorful fishes and aquatic species are very pretty and it is a great sight to see these ornamental species. It is also a good place if you are interested in collecting information about marine life and related stuff.

5.Thinnakara Island:

The island, located at a 40-minute boat ride from Agatti. The island is the central hub for watersports and adventure. It feels like a private island with minimal hotels. Some even say that there are only twenty rooms on the whole island, so one must book beforehand. The beautiful lagoons and flawless coast make it a perfect spot for solo travelers.

6.Kalpeni Island:

The island of Kalpeni is so small, you can literally walk from one end to other. And similar to Minicoy Island, you can go for a sightseeing tour to some of the star attraction here and that is the pristine beaches and blue lagoon, not to miss out on the lighthouse and Jama Masjid. In Kalpeni, there are plenty of coral life and snorkeling is one of its main water sports, but then again, relaxing and sun tanning your body on the beach, sipping a cooler is what an ideal vacationer would prefer to do.

7.Bangaram Atoll:

Bangaram Island is probably one of the best tourist destinations because it is the only place that allows consumption of alcohol in Lakshadweep. But let’s not put it that way, this island is truly a remarkable paradise and it is an ideal place for honeymooners. While here, you can enjoy seeing a plethora of land and water flora and crystal clear reefs. All you can do here is spend time amid the calm beaches and in their many luxurious resorts and cottages. 8.Agatti Island:

The island of Agatti in Lakshadweep is one of the top places to visit and it is the obvious landing destination into the world of tropical paradise because the island’s only airport is located here. Similar to other island destinations in Lakshadweep, Agatti is a tiny 7.6 km long strip land. And the first sight you see as soon as you arrive is a riveting vast aquamarine expanse and beautiful coral reefs. While here, you can relive even the tiniest moment in the slow pace of life.

9.Kiltan Island:

Most traveled from the seaport of Mangalore, this island is known for its many spots with colonial prominence. The city was a point on the trade route between Ceylon and the Persian Gulf. This place is located 52 kilometers from the main island of Amini. The island is home to many stunning reefs and lagoons that Lakshadweep has to offer.

10.Andrott Island:

Andrott Island, this is the largest island of Lakshadweep and is located closest to the Indian mainland. Unlike other islands, Andretti islands are in east-west direction. The island is also inhabited, but has been able to maintain its beauty and charm. It also provides enough opportunities to its visitors to mingle with the nature. Spending the evenings at the seaside could be very relaxing and if you are lucky enough, you might be able to spot various aquatic animals including octopuses. Andretti Island is also famous for some Buddhist archaeological remains and the tomb of Saint Hazrat Ubaidullah. However, foreign tourists are not allowed to visit this island.

11.Amini Beach:

Amini Beach is an incredible spot for people who are looking for serene tourist places in Lakshadweep. Located in Amini Island, this beach is popular as it is covered with coral sandstone. Amini beach is perfect for relaxing and spending a day while basking in the sun and sipping cocktails.
